Location: Shiatsu Cave is located at 500 W Main Street, Suite 12, Anoka MN 55303 763-433-0332
Owner/massage & bodywork therapist: Mary Caine.
Landmarks: Suite 12 at 500 W Main Street, is located on the main level of the grey 2-story building with black and white awnings across the parking lot from the long one-level Anoka shopping Center complex, and is part of the Anoka Shopping Center Complex. H&R Block is located on the East side of the building, along Green Avenue.
Geography: City of Anoka is situated at the confluence of two rivers (Rum & Mississippi), and the City is bordered by the Mississippi on the south side. The only way to get into the City directly from the South is by crossing the Highway 169 bridge between Champlin and Anoka.
West Main Street The City of Anoka West & East downtown Main Street shopping district is divided by the Rum River/Ferry Street/Hwy 169 intersection. West Main Street runs about 6 blocks West of the Rum River bridge and has non-numbered cross streets, (just West of the Highway 169/Ferry Street-Main Street intersection), and continues under Highway 10/169 leading to Green Haven Golf Course, but makes a left just under and past the bridge and goes by Perkins. Other businesses nearby to 500 W Main St include Anoka Shopping Center (drivers licence bureau, Desired Chiropractic, Anoka Coffee Shop, Trophy shop, Mexican grocery and bakery, and the new Midwest Pawn, where Anoka Drug was for many years - shared parking lot) and Anoka Meat & Sausage to the East. Farther West, Pinewskis Ski shop & Sign Station. Farther East, Holiday Station and Main Motors.
East Main Street is the historic downtown shopping district that runs about 10 blocks East of the Rum River bridge/Hwy 169/Ferry Street intersection (numbered cross streets) loaded with great shops and good restaurants, car shows on Saturday nights in the summer and where the Anoka Government Center is located between 3rd and 4th AV N. Both West and East Main St downtown shopping districts run south of - and parallel to Highway 10/47 (East of Ferry Street), which turns into Highway 10/169 travelling West past Ferry St/169, between the 7th Ave Exit, and the West Main Street Exit. Continuing East from dowtown would eventually lead to the Main Street Exit to Highway 10/47 at Menards and RiverDale Crossing.
NOTE: Summer of 2012 there will be road construction on East Main Street from the Rum River bridge (just east of the Ferry St/hwy 169 & Main Street intersection) to 5th Av E.
Exit: Traveling from points East, West and North of Anoka take the West Main St Exit from Hwy 10/169.
500 West Main Street is about a block south of Highway 10/169, and is visible from Highway 10/169, take a right into the parking lot.
Traveling from the South to Anoka, if you are crossing the Mississippi Bridge from Champlin to Anoka, heading north, proceed up to the Main Street intersection and take a left, heading West. 500 West Main will be about 5 blocks down on the corner of Green Av, and (W) Main Street, take another left into the parking lot.
Entrance: Shiatsu Cave is located in Suite 12, and has a blue-green lighted window box sign with a mountain and lake background. Enter through the main front door, and then the door to your immediate left. Also, feel free to enter through the salon door around the corner on the West side of the building. Shiatsu Cave is in the adjoining suite to the salon.
Parking: There is ample parking all around the building.
For handicap entrance: Use First Impressions entrance on the northwest corner of building – ramp and handicap parking space. Shiatsu Cave and First Impressions Barber & Stylists are open between the two suites.
Atmosphere: Semi-community style, where privacy is respected at all times. Clients who need complete quiet should be aware there is an appreciable social connectedness at times when the salon tends to be more active on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons and into the evenings and clietns may be more comfortable scheduling time in the morning, or times when the salon is normally closed (first, second and fourth Saturdays of the month, and Mondays) for absolute quiet.
Shiatsu Cave shares handicap accessible bathrooms with the salon, which are located near salon entrance. Clients are encouraged to use either entrance.
For those not familiar with Eastern style massage & bodywork, removing clothes is not neccessary when using direct pressure techniques, fabric often works for better traction, so really no need for complete privacy. The Shiatsu area is in a separate suite, and private from the salon, but just so that clients are aware: Very friendly and fun, but not entirely sound proof.
